Every action we take on your behalf, from phone answering to alarm dispatching, is done in your company’s name. When we place calls to your customers, the caller id is unique to your company for a consistent customer experience. At the end of every alarm interaction, we thank the customer for choosing your company.
Although we have a set of recommended alarm handling procedures, we offer significant flexibility so you can customize specific event procedures to best fit your customer’s needs individually. This includes optional false alarm reduction features such as Alarm and Cancel delay, double knock zoning, and specialized procedures based on time of day and/or day of the week.
Monitoring America doesn’t strive to be the cheapest place to have your customers’ alarms monitored. Instead, we strive to be good stewards of your investment to provide the high-quality service and technology you deserve. Our goal is to provide great service at a fair price because quality service is key to your customer retention. Having said that, we’re a not-for-profit co-op and we’ve reduced our base monitoring fee by 30% since 2015.
If you are monitoring both the fire and security alarms at a single address with the same customer contacts, we waive the base account fee for the second system! Likewise, if you monitor both a medical alert system (PERS) and the security alarm at a single address with the same customer contacts, you don’t pay the base fee for the second system.

Dealing with a large corporation can sometimes mean communication and access to top-level management is missing. While we strive to make sure it’s not needed, at Monitoring America you can still call and get the President on the phone.

We are a UL listed central station. Underwriters Laboratory, offers certification only to those central stations that have conformed to strict standards regarding everything from infrastructure integrity and staffing to physical and cyber security.
The two UL standards that cover central stations are UL 827, which deals with building security and integrity, and UL 1981, which addresses automation and infrastructure requirements. These standards are available for purchase through https://standardscatalog.ul.com/Default.aspx but are not publicly available otherwise.
At Monitoring America, there’s no long-term contract. Service is month to month and any telephone resources you transfer or we assign you are yours to take with you. Unlike others in the industry, we won’t bait you with a low base monitoring fee to get you under a long-term contract and then hit you with extra fees for too many customer zones or contacts.
As a Co-Op, Monitoring America will never compete in the marketplace against our member companies. We’re committed to supporting your success in growing your business.
Excellent response times like ours require a combination of technology, training, and appropriate staffing levels. We run response reports daily to ensure we’re meeting the high standard we’ve set. In addition to average response times, these custom reports also list any individual incidents that fell outside of the acceptable range so that we can proactively investigate any issues.
The average dispatcher tenure is 3 years and the average data entry department tenure is 6 years. In addition, our management team has over 50 years of combined alarm monitoring industry experience. Not only do we have the knowledge and expertise to provide your monitoring needs, we also have the employment stability to provide the excellent service you expect.
We’ve invested the time and money to deploy the necessary infrastructure to ensure the high availability of our communications resources. We utilize redundant DIA fiber internet with BGP failover to provide the up time you and your customers expect.
If you’re experiencing frequent internet communication issues with your current central station, they may be attempting to save money with inferior internet technologies such as coax or DSL-based services. Even a fiber-based internet connection that’s not DIA, (Dedicated Internet Access), is a shared connection without the proper guarantee of required bandwidth and low latency.
Central stations using these technologies are likely at the mercy of their internet provider for IP addresses. This means they’re locked into those providers unless they take the steps and expense of acquiring their own routable IP subnet and then require their customers to reprogram existing IP communication devices.
DIA internet is expensive, thousands of dollars instead of hundreds at significant bandwidth, but it’s part of deploying important redundancy technologies such as BGP (Border Gate Protocol). BGP is a router protocol that will attempt to route around an issue along the path from communicator to receiver. Once the appropriate investment in technology and setup is made, BGP can overcome single points of failure to reestablish communication within minutes.
We take it a step further and utilize two separate DIA fiber connections each with two separate sets of IP addresses that belong to us and can be routed through any provider. Each alarm communication device is provided two IP addresses, one on each DIA fiber connection. This ensures that even during the time it takes for BGP to failover and recover, you still have the alternate IP address up and able to reach a receiver.
